Double Challenge

First of all, I'm very sad to see that Caardvarks is doing their last challenge. I haven't had a chance to participate in one of the challenges yet but always enjoyed looking at what others created for it. I decided to go with blue for my monochromatic card since I love the color and I'm trying to do more masculine cards.

I used sketch 93 from the CardPatterns sketch blog.

Happy Thanksgiving

We're getting ready for the big day here in our household. I've done the grocery shopping, prepared lists and have made some cute pumpkins. I saw the idea on Aly Dosdall's blog - Scrap Your Story.

Thanksgiving Pumpkins

I used a bunch of different scraps of orange paper to make the 4", 5" & 6" circles, green cardstock hand cut for the leaves and a brown grocery bag for the stems.

I think they look really cute next to the nutcracker I bought on clearance at the end of last year. Love that little guy and I'm so glad I finally get to use him. He sat in a box at the top of my closet all year long just waiting to come out!

Hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!!

PTI October Blog Hop

This month's blog hop is dedicated to those that celebrate winter holidays other than Christmas. The challenge was to create a project that celebrates Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or some other winter holiday as we embrace everyone's beliefs in a celebration of diversity through paper crafting.

Here's my card for this month's blog hop:

PTI Oct Blog Hop

I drew the base of the Menorah in the cutting program for my Klic-N-Kut. I have the SVG file if anyone is interested. The candles were hand cut and the flames hand drawn with a copic marker and then stickles over the top. Hardest part was getting those letters lined up!

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Fresh Alphabet
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Cardstock: PTI Enchanted Evening, PTI Dark Chocolate, PTI Soft Stone
Other: Copic marker, Stickles

Holiday Thinking Inking Challenge 1

I am a HUGE fan of Jennifer McGuire so I had to participate in her newest addition to the Thinking Inking videos over on TwoPeas. I had a lot of fun playing with my distress inks to make this card.

Papertrey Playhouse Challenge #1

I know it's not very original to make felt clouds but I've had this card in my head ever since I saw this card months ago on A Passion for Papertrey blog.

Can't believe I waited so long to buy this little airplane set. I mean my husband is a pilot - you would have thought it would have gone in my shopping cart the day it was released. I made this simple card for him since he's been flying so much the past month.

Waltzingmouse Challenge

Here's my card for the World Card Making Day challenge on Claire's blog using a beautiful digital stamp she created:

20101003_0030

I don't have any Copics for skin tones so I had to break out my Prismacolor pencils. I forgot how much more work it is to color with those! By the time I finished coloring little Harriet, I was tired and so this card is pretty simple. Now off to shop for some new Copics.

Betsy's Card Creations Challenge

Betsy Veldman has a challenge on her blog right now to pick a non-holiday card from the pages of Card Creations Vol. 8 and create a holiday card based on that design. I'm not a big Christmas card maker but this seemed like a fun way to use my new stamp set from Waltzingmouse.

Supplies:
Stamps: WMS Nutcracker Sweet, Hero Arts Flourish Background

September Papertrey Pages Challenge

The challenge this month was to create a page using only paper, paint and ink.

La Boqueria

In April 2009, my husband and I made a side trip to Barcelona for a few days after visiting his family in Madrid. It was his birthday so we stayed at a beautiful hotel right on Las Ramblas. We spent an entire morning walking through this wonderful market sampling the fruit, chocolate, wine and other goodies.

Supplies:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Labels No. 4, Gel-a-tins Build Your Own Paisley
Ink: Memento Rich Cocoa
Paper: PTI Dark Chocolate, 7 Gypsies Karma, Prism Paper cardstock
Other: Daisyd's Gypsy Harvest quotes, embossing powder

PTI September Blog Hop

This is my first time participating in the PTI Blog Hop since they changed the rules so us girls in Europe can participate!

The challenge this month was to show off any skill you might have learned from a fellow stamper.

I have been following Jennifer McGuire ever since I can remember and she is actually the one who introduced me to PTI with these little cuties. I decided to use her embossing powder technique video for this card:

PTI Sept Blog Hop

20100925_0008

This is a pretty simple technique and I don't know why I never thought of using more than one color of embossing powder at a time before.

I also have to give a shout out to Michelle Wooderson (Mish) since I used her sketch from the September PTI newsletter.

Supplies:
Stamps: PTI Round & Round, PTI Mega Mixed Messages, Hero Arts Flourish Background
Ink: VersaMark
Cardstock: PTI Lemon Tart, PTI Scarlet Jewel, PTI Terracotta Tile, Neenah Classic Solar White
Other: embossing powder

Papertrey Pages - July Challenge

Here's the page I created for this month's challenge:

Easter in Sicily

Journaling Reads:
FFSC has a yearly trip to a local pasticceria to see the Sicilian traditions for Easter. Although they look pretty, the cakes (with a hard boiled egg baked on to them) are bland and hard. I'm glad I was able to learn about the culture but I'll take a Reese's Peanut Butter egg any day over one of these! 3/18/08

Stamps Used:
PTI Polka Dot Basics II
PTI Round & Round
PTI Distressed Stripes
PTI Fresh Alphabet
PTI Library Ledger
